At the center of our community is Harbor Isle Lake.  The lake is actually a retention pond, and it receives all of our storm water runoff.

Keep our lake healthy

  • Reclaimed water is used throughout the community to supply sprinkler systems.  Reclaimed water contains some nutrients that will help with landscape fertilization, however over-watering can cause the reclaimed water to enter the lake via storm drains and negatively impact water quality.  More info here

Below is from Michael Perry, St Petersburg Lake Manager, on July 3, 2025:

I wanted to inform you and the residents that we have the yearly alum treatment tentatively scheduled for July 8th and July 9th. (completed on 7/9) It should be done the same way as last year with equipment staged up at the front of the community and small work boats and skiffs applying the alum over the following two days. I will have to turn the aeration system off to allow the alum to floc and settle to the bottom, binding phosphorus as it goes.

On a separate note, we did pull the weir boards out yesterday (7/2/2025) to draw the lake down a bit due to the predicted rainfall. As of today, it appears it will not be as severe as predicted, which is good. Depending on how the weekend proceeds we will reevaluate the weir and see if we want to place those boards back in to get the lake to its normal control elevation.
